Changes to break times

As part of our ongoing efforts to reduce congestion within the school, we have implemented staggered break times. This means that if you have more than one child at Garrison Road, they will not necessarily have breaks at the same time. It also means that your child(ren) may have breaks at earlier or later times. Of course, if a child is hungry or needs to move around, we will provide opportunity for them to eat and move around.

Nutrition Break Routines

Another switch this year that is reflective of heightened health and safety protocols, is that parents will no longer be able to drop lunches during the school day for their children. If a child is for some reason without a lunch, we will provide some nutritious options to satisfy their hunger until such time that they can eat at home after school. No Garrison Road student will leave for lunch unless they are picked up by a parent. In this case, a student must sign out at the office and parents must await their child(ren) outside. Students will not be permitted to leave school property to purchase their lunch at the local businesses, unless picked up by their parent.  It is understood that those students being picked up during the nutrition break are under the supervision of their parent.  The decision to stop the practice of grade 7 and 8 students having the option to leave school property to purchase their lunches was made to ensure the safety of our students.  This decision is supported by our School Council.
